Wow. Today was a rough day for the Shore family. It started about one week ago. Thursday evening Kyle started vomiting and his previously clear runny nose was now green and he was running a fever. I initially thought it was just teething. I gave him Tylenol and he seemed to do better. 4 hours later he was running a fever again and very fussy. For the next 2-3 days he was feverish with vomiting, productive cough (clear lung sounds though), diarrhea, runny nose and developed a horrible diaper rash. We kept thinking that he is going to be okay he probably just has a virus. However he seemed to get worse!
For the past 2 days he seemed to be lethargic and clingy. Not normal for Kyle. He so active and never stops moving! I have wished so badly for my sweet boy to be snugly and for the past couple days he was so snugly and I have never wished so badly that my non-snugly active and happy baby was back! We decided that if he was not better by Wednesday we were going to make a doctor's appointment. He did not get better and was much much worse this morning (Wednesday).
At the doctor's office, Kyle's doctor seemed very concerned and mention possible admitting Kyle but held off saying that we had to be watching him constantly and if he got at all worse that we were to take him to the emergency room.
(For those that understand medical lingo.... his h/r was 180, RR was 60 and his O2 Sat's were only 90% and a temp of 102.)
He then sent us to the hospital for labs and a chest x ray. They had to do 2 blood draws to get enough blood and it was so horrible and heart breaking to watch my sweet, happy and joyful baby so distraught. :( During the chest x ray they enclosed him in the clear plexi-glass thing and he was not liking that either, I am sure it did not help that he was feeling horrible as well as still running a pretty high fever. After leaving the hospital we went back to the doctor's office for a shot of antibiotics and we learned that he actually had pneumonia! My poor baby! No wonder he felt so bad and has been so sick! By the time we were back to Salem, he was like a whole new kid. The antibiotics were already working and the Tylenol and ibuprofen were working. We dropped off his prescription and the pharmacy and headed to the store for some much needed ice cream which Kyle fully enjoyed when he got home! The picture above is taken at the store in the ice cream isle no less! The bandages on his arms are from the blood draws. I just want him to be better again! Keep praying for Kyle and I will keep you all updated!
